“This conference was very helpful to me as a classroom teacher, Thank you.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the 2020 Educational Therapists of the Carolinas conference! Thank you ETC for providing a rich, inspirational learning environment with engaging and experienced speakers. I feel I gained a lot of valuable information and insight regarding childhood learning and development. This was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers, parents, and other professionals. It is rewarding to explore on my own some of the resources I learned about from the presenters and apply this knowledge as I raise my son and in my volunteer work with children. I saw this conference as a golden opportunity to soak up some of the latest research in this important field from a variety of perspectives and backgrounds-and it did not disappoint!
Dr. Milt Uecker, Director our the Lowrie Center for Christian School Education, addressed our eager group on September 18th. Our meeting at the lovely facilities of the Gaston Christian School was lauded by members as an excellent central location for our group, and the school provided an excellent setting for Dr. Uecker's messages of inspiration and challenge to us.
"We, like those before us, must equip children with the truth in that the battle is between conflicting worldviews and the need to bring thoughts captive and obedient to Christ." Dr. Uecker not only brought us the messages vital to our mission, but he also encouraged us greatly with the story of his providential path throughout life that brought him to be a part of the founding ministry of NILD (National Institute for Learning Development). Dr. Uecker challenged us to lead our students to confirm their Biblical worldview by putting it into real-life settings. Space is limited here, but Dr. Uecker's message was immense. https://vimeo.com/507617039
Following Dr. Uecker's address, we were blessed to have Nancy Jessen, retired NILD instructor for educational therapists and experienced therapist herself, to present technique reviews. The Proverbs technique study flowed beautifully with Dr. Uecker's message, as did the following Buzzer review. Nancy graciously reiterated her desire to be a resource for information and observation to our therapists.
Attendees all enjoyed the information, fellowship, and camaraderie of the morning, as well as the delicious refreshments donated buy the local Panera Bread restaurant. Even with our busy practices and lives, we agreed meeting together - on a Saturday, no less - was certainly worth the efforts!
